Moving over to a Tesla Model 3 from a car that would have a dashboard display may be hard to adjust for some. So, when this customer asked if we could install one he had purchased at the same time as fitting his GNET front and rear dashcams we gladly obliged (we do love tech!).
We installed a GNET G-ON1 front and rear dashcam, hiding all wires along the existing Tesla wiring channels.
A hardwire kit isn't needed with the GNET dashcam because all the wiring comes in the kit and the enhanced parking modes can be enabled and adjusted within the IOS and Android app.
Parking modes with the GNET dashcam on the Tesla Model 3 means that you can have Timelapse, Motion and Impact recording at practically zero detriment to the main lithium pack / miles.

If you use the built in Tesla dashcam / sentry mode, you could see up to 1.5 miles drained every hour so 12 hours overnight could mean a range loss of nearly 20 miles with the video recording resolution actually been around a quarter of the quality that you can get with the high resolution 2k GNET dashcams. Also Tesla sentrymode will switch off should your Tesla drop to only 50 miles range remaining.
To give you an idea of power consumption, Sentry Mode on the Tesla can use around 200 to 300 watts of energy whilst GNET, Goluk and Blackvue dashcams use up to 350 milliamps per hour. In mileage terms, you could see a loss of around 15 to 20 miles in 12 hours with Tesla Sentry cam compared to 15 to 20 miles used by a third party Dashcam, running 24/7 for nearly a month.
