Installing a 2K Reversing Camera and 4K Front Dashcam on a Vauxhall Combo Van

This customer couldnt see anything behind him as no rear view mirro scan see through metal, so a big struggle when trying to reverse not being able to safely see whats behind you. This Vauxhall Combo van owner in Lincolnshire checked out pricing to have a much lower quality (720p) reversing camera fitted from another company and was shocked when the price was over £750 fitted!
He then contacted Dashcams.co.uk to see if we could help after seeing our reversing camera solution and we were happy to oblige. Supplying and installing a much higher quality 2k reversing camera that also has a 4k front dashcam system, all installed for much less than just a low resolution reversing camera.
It was equally as important to have a ultra HD dashcam to record the surroundings of his vehicle and when he realised our 4k front Dashcam also features a fully functional 2k rear camera that also serves as a reversing camera, he booked us in promptly for an install.
Our UHD front and rear Dashcam that packs great valuable features including a QHD reversing camera that activates when you select reverse gear (optional extra). Most (if not all) other van reversing cameras can vary in price from around £550 to £700 supplied and installed and they are only a quarter of the resolution as our rear camera. Not only that, they dont record all the surroundings.
So, after reviewing other more expensive reversing cameras, the customer realised he could have a much better system AND save money by opting to have the higher resolution 4k front and 2k rear camera from us including reversing camera function (that would have cost twice this including installation!) *installation prices will vary slightly between vehicles.

Reversing camera that records all around van
If you have read our previous install posts, you will know that we put tech products through some extensive testing for months before we even think about adding them to our portfolio of preferred manufacturer / product list (if not, have a search back at the blog to see how particular we are!). This dashcam has a true 4k high bitrate front camera with Sony sensor and a 2k rear camera that can also function as a reversing camera (if you opt for the additional reverse wiring install). For reversing mode we can wire this up to your reversing light circuit so when you select the reverse gear, the camera display will wake up and show you a live reversing video to enable you to reverse safely. The rear camera is installed at the rear of the van so you will benefit from a high resolution video image as if you are looking from the rear of the car backwards. Due to the high recording resolution, you can enjoy fast downloads with its FAST 5Ghz wifi for app video download - a surprising addition making it a best value dashcam (the video resolution and sensors alone are normally only available in other market leading brands that cost around £650 installed!).
All wires are totally hidden and run alongside existing vehicle wiring looms, we aim for the best aesthetically pleasing look that almost looks like a factory install.
All our dashcams can also be accessed instantly using the smartphone phone app if required to download footage.
With its compact yet functional size, we can mount it behind a rear view mirror or slightly lower so that you can use its reversing function. The screen can also be set to turn off when you are driving if you wish or you can leave it on to give added benefit of rear view and blind spots.
One of the great features that we love about this dash cam kit is when wired in with the optional hardwire unit, you can take out the front camera to use in another vehicle. Simply unplug and then slide the front 4k dashcam out of its screen mount and then plug it in to your second car using the spare cig socket lead and dashcam suction mount.
We installed this dashcam so that it benefits from full parking mode recording protection.
Its built in G-sensor will record any impacts and also record motion whilst parked. The built in GPS can record your speed and location if required and then playback of video will show you your journey history.
The Dashcam is supplied with a 32gb memory card that will give you a rolling recording loop of around 2.5hours at full 4k + 2k recording. You have full flexibility to change the resolution / FPS of both the front and rear video to make efficient longer use from your memory card if you wish. You can also install a bigger memory card to a staggering 512gb!
For reference that will give you around 34 hours of recording. 64gb will be around 4.2hrs and 128gb around 8.5hrs.
