We visited this customer in Yorkshire to install their Nextbase dashcam into this brand new Genesis GV60. We also advised on fitting the Nextbase hardwire kit to a switched live supply as oppose to a permanent live supply. The reason being, the nextbase hardwire kit has a low voltage cut off of 11.6volts, which in our experience is way too low, no matter how you use your vehicle. For reference, at 11.6volts, a 12 volt battery is nearly flat, at only having around 20% charge. Its not wise to run it this low and you risk not being able to start your car and even damaging the 12 volt battery. The dashcams & kits that we supply have the flexibility of changing the parking mode and voltage settings within the app and this is great for Electric Vehicles as they also allow in depth monitoring and recording of the 12 volt auxiliary battery. A great little VW Full Electric Vehicle to receive a professional installation of a Goluk T3 Dashcam. Full 24/7 Parking Motion detection recording is activated on the T3 should anyone go near the vehicle or if it gets hit whilst parked. G-shock sensors automatically save urgent video to specific folders on the 16gb memory card. This can also be upgraded to 128gb if required. The camera was securely mounted using a hex bolt to the plastic cowl behind the rear view mirror to give an exceptional OEM look and this is totally hidden from the drivers view. The T3 Goluk Dashcam install consisted of an extra battery monitor to ensure that the Camper's battery maintained plenty of power whilst it protected the vehicle's surrounding utilising the Parking Motion functionality. Should the camper's battery drop to a certain level then the battery monitor would ensure to shut down the camera until the battery was back up to a reasonable level. With the included remote button, should you pass some exceptional scenery, one touch of the button will ensure that full 1080p footage is captured for you to share later on utilising the Goluk inbuilt editing app to add music and upload to a range of social media seamlessly. Of course whilst driving, the journey is continually recorded in a loop on the included 16gb micro SD memory card. Teslacam vs third party dashcam The built in cameras on the Tesla are a nice freebie, but the main front & rear camera fall short in comparison to Manufacturers like GNET Systems Dashcam. The most obvious being recording quality, resolution, field of view and also third party dashcams have hardly any impact to the Tesla battery at all.
