The G-ON dashcam provides excellent parking mode recording, recording a H.265 encoded video and up to 60fps (video frames per second) whilst driving and in order to extend the recording capacity, this automatically changes to 1fps whilst parking. Should the motion detection be triggered by a car driving past or a person walking by then the camera automatically increases to 15fps whilst parked. If an impact is detected to the BMW then this again automatically captures video in full hd at 15fps. The cameras have a LBP mode (Low Battery Protection) that is built into the camera so no extra power magic devices or additional costs required here. This means the camera can be powered 24/7 and automatically power off should your vehicle battery get to a low state of charge. We visited this customer to remove his existing dash cameras from a Porsche 911 and Tesla Model S to then fit the very latest 2.5k Resolution niche discrete Goluk dashcam. Whilst removing his cameras we noticed there had been some damage on the Tesla, broken trims and also a hole had been drilled in the boot with the rear camera cable running through the newly drilled hole. Having installed to hundreds of Tesla vehicles, we know there is no need to drill any holes whatsoever, the customer was obviously shocked as he wasn't informed about this at the time. 2.5k resolution front and rear T2s cameras were installed to the Tesla, providing 24/7/365 coverage with hardly any impact to the range and main lithium Tesla pack (The cameras use the equivalent of around 3 miles in a month, as oppose to Tesla's own "Sentry Mode" that zaps your battery). The customer was very satisfied with the security cameras on the Tesla and he was impressed at how simple and easy it was to quickly download the footage direct to his iPhone and iPad. The Hyundai Kona is a new Electric Vehicle to the UK market and can do up to a staggering 300 miles on a single charge. Picking a reputable installer was top of this customer's list along with a discrete installation with small cameras and fast access to footage should it be needed. Front and Rear Goluk Dashcams were installed due to their excellent recording quality, fast wifi app access and parking mode settings. The Goluk camera is able to record simultaneous video streams (up to 3) for both the front AND rear camera (no other system currently does this). You even have a separate wireless emergency button to record a 12 second video stream (6 seconds before and 6 seconds after the button is pressed). When we install Dashcam systems into vehicles, it is important to understand how the vehicle replenishes its 12 volt battery. In vehicles that have petrol and diesel engines this is normally done by a device called the alternator. Whilst your vehicle is powered on, it is using electric from the alternator and the 12 volt battery. However when the car is parked the 12 volt battery runs down (slowly). If you don't use your vehicle for a week or two, the battery may drop down so much that your vehicle might not have enough power to start the engine. When you have Dashcam's installed, these don't really have any impact on the vehicle battery whilst driving. But if you also opt for the parking mode security whereby the cameras are monitoring the vehicle surroundings and recording any incidents whilst parked, this will have an impact on the 12 volt battery. So, this is why on most vehicles a battery monitor is required. This monitor powers off the Dashcam system after a few hours to ensure that your 12 volt battery maintains enough power to start your car again. It is important for installers to fully understand how the car battery is recharged as some new Electric vehicles do not require a monitor due to the vehicle monitoring the 12 volt battery and recharging it as and when. The Hyundai Kona is a new Electric Vehicle to the UK market and can do up to a staggering 300 miles on a single charge. So, this is why on most vehicles a battery monitor is required. Whilst in parking mode, this monitor powers off the Dashcam system after a few hours to ensure that your 12 volt battery maintains enough power to start your car again.
