Front and Rear Goluk Dashcams were installed due to their excellent recording quality, fast wifi app access and excellent parking mode settings. A cellink parking battery device was also installed to make full use and benefit from the Goluk camera parking recording. The Cellink parking battery allows around 16 hours of power to allow recording whilst parked. As in other JLR vehicles, the rear glass is bonded in such a way this may restrict installers from mounting the rear camera in an optimum position. We have seen other installations have the rear camera mounted to the roof trim however this gives you a very restricted "portal" view. The Goluk camera was mounted in a prime position on this i-pace. The rear spoiler on JLR vehicles is required to be removed in order to install the cameras professionally and we allocate extra time to do this. Unfortunately a fairly regular occurrence now and it’s not just Tesla vehicles that are been stolen using a technique known as ‘roll jam’ from off your drive. This only applies to vehicles that have keyless entry systems (when you walk up to your vehicle with the key in your pocket the vehicle unlocks itself). Tesla Have rolled out a software update for their vehicles that adds an option to disable (passive) keyless entry, So, in order to unlock your vehicle, you need to physically press the unlock button on your fob. However if you are like me and like this function I would strongly advise that you protect your vehicle keys and this also includes your spare key at your home. If you also have a vehicle that doesn't allow you to disable passive entry then you MUST protect your keys by shielding and blocking their wireless signal. The way that the criminals use this ‘role jam’ technique is with a device that extends your car key making your car think that the key is right next to your car and subsequently unlocking the vehicle and allowing the criminal to enter the vehicle, start it and drive off. In order to stop criminals from being able to see the wireless signals from your car key and effectively extend them, you can store your keys in something called an RFID protect pouch. A Blackvue front & rear full HD dashcam was installed into this Tesla Model X and we fixed some issues on the Tesla while we were at it! The owner had an unfortunate hit and run incident and the built in Tesla cam didnt catch the other vehicle. Installing a Blackvue or GNET dashcam into a Tesla Model S 3 or X gives much more benefit over the standard autopilot cameras. Third party cameras are dedicated to higher video quality, a much wider field of view and focal point with features such as remote cloud viewing and notifications along with regular firmware updates providing other greatly recieved improvements. The Blackvue 750x records 24/7/365 with either motion / impact detection or time-lapse whilst parked with minimal affect to the Tesla battery (miles) whereas if you were to enable the built in Tesla cameras, you would see your battery % (miles) deplete rapidly with sentry mode on. Just a few hours of parking with the built in Tesla cameras would result in many miles lost however with a Blackvue or GNET camera, you would lose 0 miles in the same time and benefit from excellent video surveillance around your car. We have had an increase in sales of our popular Goluk T3 Dashcam and various hardwire kits. Helping customers with their choices on installation methods, quite a few have taken to installing cameras themselves mainly due to us being able to manufacture our own OBD kits. The Goluk T3 Dashcam comes complete with everything to get you up and running in minutes by simply plugging in the supplied cigarette power plug and then running the power cable along the edge of the windscreen and to the preferred location behind the rear view mirror, where you stick the dashcam windscreen mount. The great thing about the Goluk T3 is that it does not have an LCD screen to distract you from driving (its actually illegal to have the screen on and in view whilst the vehicle is in motion). The OBD (On Board Diagnostic port) is a socket that Service Centres and Garages use when your vehicle is in for a service. This socket is able to provide power to be able to run a front and rear camera safely and is normally located in the drivers side footwell. Simply plug in our OBD kit and this will provide power to your dashcams and then power them down safely when your vehicle battery drops to around 12.3 volts. This allows you to make use of the Dashcam parking mode so the cameras will record whilst your car is parked. Although the cameras don't really consume much power, your vehicle electronics may do so the cameras automatically power down at a safe level. Simple plug and play fitting! OBD location examples Kit 2 consists of a dedicated hardwire box and is for the more adventurous! Our second kit requires more knowledge as this requires 3 wires connecting into your fuse box. The RED wire is crimped onto a fusetap (we will provide this for you to be able to pull a fuse out of your fusebox and then put that fuse into this fusetap and then place the fusetap back into its place). A permanent 12 volt feed is needed and normally indicated in your vehicle manual (people tend to use the central locking fuse). The YELLOW wire can be wrapped around the leg of a switched 12 volt feed, this is normally your cigarette socket outlet as this is normally only powered on when your ignition is on. The final BLACK wire needs attaching to your vehicle ground. Normally there will be a screw or a bolt near the fusebox you can remove and then attach the wire to that. A brand new Bentley GT had unfortunately being keyed the full length of the car. The owner was extremely upset and whilst it was being repaired by Bentley of Leicester he was eager to investigate solutions on how to both deter this from potentially happening again and to also catch the criminal if it did. So, he contacted Shield IT and discussed various camera options, concluding to have a full 4 camera Dashcam system installed along with a parking mode battery that would enable all 4 cameras to monitor and record incidents around the car whilst parked. The dashcams that were installed are able to record simultaneous video streams (up to 3) for each and every camera. This would result in buffered recording whilst parked with the cameras automatically triggering and recording full high definition video should anyone or anything go near the car. Parking mode is a function of certain dashcams that allows video recording in a vehicle that isn’t being operated (parked). This feature can be described as “Parking Mode” or “Parking Surveillance.” Your dashcam effectively becomes a surveillance system when you’re not driving your car. True “parking mode” means that the dashcam is capable in knowing when the vehicle is parked, usually with the assistance of built-in GPS positioning or shock / g-sensors in the camera. Brands that we recommend for true parking mode are BlackVue, Goluk and Thinkware. Why would parking mode be useful for personal vehicles? In this mode your dashcam operates even when your vehicle’s engine is off, but only for a period of time and this is dependant on how often you use your vehicle. As a rule, on a petrol/diesel vehicle it takes around 45 minutes to recharge/replenish the energy back into the battery that was used to start the engine. A front and rear Goluk Dashcam system was professionally installed to this Mercedes EQC EV. Clean "wire free look" and hidden from the drivers view. Fully hardwired into the existing fusebox, almost looking like a factory fit with a totally reversible install making it invisible and damage free (I have installed thousands of prestigious vehicles, your car is safe with me). The rear camera mount is formed so that it clips to the Mercedes trim, out of the drivers view.
