The Goluk camera is able to record simultaneous video streams (up to 3) for both the front AND rear camera (no other system currently does this). You even have a separate wireless emergency button to record a 12 second video stream (6 seconds before and 6 seconds after the button is pressed). The majority of the time we avoid sticking cameras to glass as this can be unsightly so we may design and 3d print bespoke camera mounts depending on the install to give that "factory installed" look. We ensure no wires are visible where possible and aim for the best aesthetically pleasing look. It is important to understand how the vehicle replenishes its 12 volt battery. In vehicles that have petrol and diesel engines this is done by a device called the alternator. Whilst your vehicle is being driven, it is using electric from the alternator and the 12 volt battery. However when the car is parked the 12 volt battery runs down (slowly). If you don't use your vehicle for a week or two, the battery may drop down so much that your vehicle might not have enough power to start the engine. So, this is why on most vehicles a battery monitor is required and we install our own designed Tornado Advanced Battery Monitor (the TABM-1). The TABM-1 powers off the Dashcam system as required to ensure that your 12 volt battery maintains enough power to start your car again. This also allows the camera's to monitor your vehicle and its surroundings whilst parked. Should your vehicle be hit whilst parked or someone were to "key" your vehicle, as long as there is sufficient power in your 12 volt battery, the camera's will record the incident. On Tesla vehicles, should you wish to enable the built in autopilot cameras as a dashcam, the consequences are that you may lose over 1 mile per hour of monitoring/recording. Not only that, the focal point and field of view of the built in cameras are focused to assist in its autopilot abilities and not that of a wide angle view dashcam. The result after a few days, your Tesla battery may be flat and with gaps and spaces between the vehicle cameras, you might actually miss an important incident. This Tesla Model S EV had front and rear Goluk Dashcams professionally installed in Leeds a year ago and the cameras have just paid for themselves. Unfortunately the driver had to brake quickly to avoid a large animal in the road however the following vehicle failed to stop.
